Lolu Akinwunmi

 

‘Lolu Akinwunmi is the Group CEO of Prima Garnet Africa, a leading Marketing Communication Group in Nigeria. A graduate of the University of Lagos, he started his career in Lintas Lagos in 1982 and was Client Service and Media Director in Promoserve Grey from 1988 to 1991; he started Prima Garnet in 1992.

‘Lolu is a Fellow of APCON and the Nigeria Institute of Marketing. He has attended many professional programmes locally and abroad, including the Unilever African Marketing Course 10, the Ogilvy SMP/MBA, etc.

In 2010 ‘Lolu was appointed the 5th Chairman of the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria, APCON by President Goodluck Jonathan. Prior to then, he was also appointed the pioneer Secretary and later pioneer CEO of the Nigerian Rebranding project by the government in 2009 to manage the “Good People; Great Nation” campaign. From 2007 to 2009, he was the 14th President of the Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria, AAAN. He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Marketing, an Adjunct Lecturer at the Pan Atlantic University and a public speaker on professional and non-professional subjects.

For many years ‘Lolu was on the board of Ogilvy Africa and is the Chairman of Nitro121 (formerly 141 Nigeria). He is also the Chairman of MediaShare Nigeria. He is a member of the IOD, the Convention for Business Integrity, and board member, CHAMSWITCH Plc, Premier Music, MeadowHall School, The Centre for Integrated Health Programs (CIHP) Columbia University’s International Centre for AIDS Care and Treatment Programs. He also sits on the board of the Impact Your World, a Not-for-Profit organization.

‘Lolu is a prolific writer and has published over 70 professional papers. He is also the author of SKIN FOR SKIN: The Prima Garnet Story.

He is married to Josephine, a lawyer, certified arbitrator and mediator, and they have two boys, ‘Tosin and ‘Seni. He was ordained a full Pastor in 1997.
